Wonderful

I loved this hotel - a great base for a really relaxing short break in Amsterdam. The whole vibe was very laid back and calm, staff were attentive, with tip-top restaurant recs, and the serve-yourself approach in the lounge was so much nicer than having waiters buzzing around. The room was much bigger and more comfortable than other Amsterdam hotels I've stayed in, although not huge by international standards, but and lets face it, hotels are expensive in this city. The bathroom was large and well-appointed, with an enourmous bath (I could float in it!) and a great walk in shower. Breakfast was delicious. There was service at the cooked bar, where eggs, omelettes and pancakes were prepared, and everything else was serve-yourself -so equally as relaxed as the lounge. Overall, I thought the 'all inclusive' concept was worth it for the relaxing vibe - you know if advance what you're paying and don't have to keep a tab on where the minibar bill is heading. And considering the price of Amsterdam hotels, I don't think the room rate is over the top.

Great choice for couples to be in the middle of things

Good service and helpful staff. Comfortable, quiet room (if a bit small) and bed. Our room had a great rain style shower. We especially liked the lobby and general decor. It was ideal for being in the centre of things, only a short walk in any direction to see something special. Make sure you ask for a canal view - it is worth it. We did a deal to include breakfast and it was well worth it - plenty of choice.

Would not stay anywhere else

Just returned from 3 nights at the Banks Mansion. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the location central and the "at home" concept worked very well. I would not consider staying anywhere else in Amsterdam. We visited friends in a 5 star hotel near the station and would not have swapped for anything.

Best Hotel I've stayed in Amsterdam

Best Hotel I've stayed in in Amsterdam ( and I've stayed in many, including the big 5 star establishments ). All members of staff were friendly and efficient . Great welcome, lovely ladies in the breakfast kitchen , slick service. Room was excellent and the guest lounge with free bar was a real bonus and a great place to relax. Well done - absolutley first rate.

Superb Hotel

Stayed at Banks Mansion for 4 nights June 9th to 13th, every thing about this hotel was perfect, the location is excellent, the staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms though on the small side are very well laid out and tastefully decorated, the free mini bar and lounge bar are a really nice touch and never abused, the inclusive breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of food served in a very homely atmosphere. We loved Amsredam and will definitely stay at Banks Mansion on our next visit.

Modern and Awesome

We had a wonderful stay at Banks Mansion. It is very centrally located where trams #16 and #24 run right by it. It is right on the canal, but our room was located so that right below us would be the street and if we lean just a bit from our window we can see the canal. If you ask for rooms facing the canal, that would be preferable. All the other houses along the same street facing the canal use to be mansions of Amsterdam's elite society similar to our hotel, renovated to be a great value hotel. We usually like decors reflecting the grand old elegance of a past era, but the modern/art deco look was a treat. It is far from the largest hotel we've stayed in around the world, but by European standards and for the price the room is a good size with room for a desk and a lounge chair to relax in instead of having to camp out on the bed to watch TV. The TV sound pipes into the bathroom so that we can listen to the news while getting ready. The staff was friendly, accomodating and it was cute to see a petite girl running to help us carry in our luggage we hauled across France and Belguim, into the hotel entrance. The lobby has 2 PCs with internet connections, comfortable seating areas and one area near a fireplace. The hotel provides snacks, liquor, wine, beer, coffee and tea in the lobby 24 hrs a day, constantly stocked so that we can help ourselves like we were at home. The mini-bar in the room is also complimentary and I think we are still shell-shocked over that one. Gin, Vodka and Gran Marnier were also provided in cut glass ware in the room. Every morning we went downstairs to the Kitchen where a full breakfast is provided, again complimentary. Besides the full continental breakfast items, eggs, sausages and bacon are provided. If you want, there is a cook available to cook pancakes, eggs any way you want, french toast and waffles. At that point we were on the road so long we were glad to eventually go home, but when we stayed at Banks Mansion, it was about the closest thing to home we could get on the road. We felt welcomed and pampered and relaxed. Thanks so much Banks Mansion personnel

Good

Really nice hotel with added bonus of free room bar and hotel bar. Seemed to have a relaxed attitude to me bringing friends over as well. Good location.

The best place for a weekend break!"

Me and my wife have just returned back from a superb Mansion, from start to finish this Hotel was 1st class. Stayed in room 212, extra large bathroom, Rainshower, Bath for 2! dressing gown, slippers, accesories, that was just the bathroom. Sleeping area - large double bed, free mini bar (coke, orange, tonic water, water, sprite, heiniken beer, fresh orange) Pillow choice, plenty of spot lights to choose your lighting mood, large dressing table/desk, dvd player, flat screen wallmounted tv, surround sound speakers, plenty of good tv channels to watch, sport, news, lots of films, xxx, radio, and 85% English language. Air conditioning was superb, Mitsubishi multi system, was needed as outside was getting to 30c, decor very stylish. Hotel in perfect location 1 min walk to major bars and great food spots, coffe shops 3 within 2-5 min walk, dam sqaure and red light 10 15 min walk, many nice and wonderfull people are in Amsterdam as for places to visit old buildings, bars, nightlife, coffe shops, boat rides Banks Mansion is a perfect place to chill and explore this breathtaking city. Hope this helps. Be good orange bud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strongly recommend this hotel!

The location of this hotel is great; and the staff are extremely helpful - very professional and friendly. The free facilities were a unique feature for us, though we do usually stay in 4 star hotels - everything you consume is provided at no extra charge, and this includes a wide range of drinks (hot and cold) and also snacks/nibbles/pastries etc. The room was comfortable with a lovely view of the canal. A bath would have been nice, in addition to the lovely shower, but we didn't actually request this (would do so if staying again). Only thing that disappointed was the Amsterdam weather - but the hotel can't do anything about that! Great museums, and we also recommend the cheese/wine canal cruise if you are visiting Amsterdam.
